WHAT ARE PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES?

Photochromic lenses are light-adaptive lenses that adjust themselves to different lighting conditions. When indoors, the lenses are clear and when exposed to sunlight, they turn dark in less than a minute.

HOW DO PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES WORK?

There are billions of invisible molecules inside the photochromic lenses. When the lenses are not exposed to ultraviolet light, these molecules maintain their normal structure and the lenses remain transparent. When they are exposed to ultraviolet light, the molecular structure begins to change shape. This reaction causes the lenses to become a uniformly colored state. Once the lenses are out of sunlight, the molecules return to their usual form, and the lenses become transparent again.
